This 3D-printed part extends an aftermarket radiator duct to meet the vent in aftermarket hoods, resulting in better airflow, downforce, and cooling - especially in combination with a front undertray.
The 2002+ NSX-R's aero package was extremely sophisticated. The hood vent extracts hot air from behind the radiator and smoothly channels it over the windscreen, relieving the positive pressure that typically builds under the hood and generating downforce, famously balanced with the rear spoiler to match the car's weight distribution. Many aftermarket hoods have shallower vents to clear the base NSX's spacesaver spare tire, leaving a gap when paired with the duct. This Duct Extension bridges the gap and features two airfoil-like turning vanes to guide the airflow into alignment with the free stream. For best effectiveness install alongside a front undertray.Â
Due to variability in aftermarket part fitment, I am offering the CAD files for free as modifications may be necessary. I recommend printing a prototype to check and iterate fitment. Use a temperature-resistant material such as PET-CF (not PETG-CF) for the final part as it will need to endure the radiator's exhaust heat.
